Baby Portraits-Posed or Unplanned

When it comes to portraits...I am always at a loss to choose between posed "professional looking " portraits like the one below...



or capturing those quiet, unplanned moments.
Each has it's merits, no doubt. But, I can never choose which works best. Until I can, I think I'll just make it a practice to shoot both.

    Sarah, both pictures are beautiful. In this instance, I think I prefer the unposed one just a bit more. And normally I do like unposed shots because they're so much more natural. But it's often difficult to get a good unposed photo. So I agree that it's best to keep practicing with both. Part of the joy of photography is getting those rare, almost-perfect shots
